Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy Sunshine Coast
for KIDS and ADULTS

In short, Hypnosis is a state of calm and focus which allows you to access your unconscious mind. This is why hypnosis is a great tool utilised for therapy purposes to address mental health issues, physical, social and even spiritual health. Hypnotherapy is the main modality used by Sarah Herrmann in The Transformed Mind’s therapy sessions.

Once the nervous system is calm and settled and the body and mind perceives the therapeutic environment as safe, communication with your unconscious mind can be established. This is done by listening, feeling, seeing, tasting or smelling your internal world. Utilising your senses during each session is a vital part of creating change in your life. Sarah likes to describe the unconscious mind as your intuition which includes your creativity. It communicates through stories, pictures, feelings, metaphors, symbols and more. This is why children are easer influenced. The conscious part of the Brain has not been fully developed in kids and therefore all behaviours are coming directly from the unconscious. We often see children make decisions based on feelings and not logic.

Definition of Hypnosis

“The induction of a state of consciousness in which a person apparently loses the power of voluntary action and is highly responsive to suggestion or direction. Its use in therapy, typically to recover suppressed memories or to allow modification of behaviour, has been revived but is still controversial.”

Frequently Asked Questions

This statement is a myth.

In truth, everyone can be hypnotised. In fact, when you get hypnotised it’s not the practitioner who puts you in to this state, it is yourself. The practitioner only gives you instructions and you decide whether you take those suggestion on and follow them. However, sometimes the believes we carry can prevent us from moving forward and create the desired change. Due to believes also being deeply ingrained in our unconscious mind. From Sarah’s experience the believe that “I can’t be Hypnotised” is related to lack of trust and safety towards people and self.

This is why other practices such as tapping or Reiki may be a great alternative to begin with.  Can still create a calmer nervous system and provide you with deeper insight and solutions into your current problem.

When anyone is in the state of hypnosis during a The Transformed Mind session they still have the ability to remember, talk and be aware of their environment.

Usually, their mind and body is very relaxed which allows to change believes which are no longer needed, overcome hurdles, create new ideas, focus on the future and release traumas and emotion from the past. The brain waves moving up and down and therefore you may experience times when it seems like you are in a very deep state of relaxation and hypnosis. At other times, it seems like your awareness may be more present.

Psychology is an accepted treatment for mental health conditions and part of conventional and western medicine. Your Doctor or GP has access via Medicare (Australia) to refer to certain ‘Allied Health’ practitioners such as Psychologists or Councillors. Some practitioners which work in the psychology area do utilise Hypnosis or similar practices to address your unconscious mind, thoughts, feelings, believes, behaviours and more. However, it doesn’t seem to be included in the basic training provided by the Universities or Training Organisations.

Even though Hypnotherapy has been officially researched from the 1800’s onwards it still is considered as a complementary or alternative to psychology.

The short answer is no. Even though it would be very entertaining for Sarah Herrmann, Alternative Therapist from The Transformed Mind. Each in person Sunshine Coast, phone or Video session provides you with suggestions only. Ultimately it is your choice to follow those cues. There is a big difference between Clinical Hypnotherapy and stage Hypnosis. Being turned into a chicken is part of stage Hypnosis. The obvious purpose is entertainment, which is only achieved through a screening process by the Hypnotist. Each show is set up in a particular way to ultimately end up selecting a very small amount of people which are very susceptible to suggestion.

The short answer to this question is yes. As we go into a hypnotic state several times a day our mind and body is very familiar with it. However, using hypnosis as a therapeutic tool may require the the practitioner to determine whether it is appropriate as part of your therapy. Sarah, The Transformed Mind’s Alternative Therapist always assesses suitability with a conversation via phone or video. This allows you as a potential client to get a sense of Sarah and let’s her determine that she is able to help you with your problem. At times, people with previous mental or physical health diagnosis such as psychosis and epilepsy may require a letter from the Doctor to ensure Hypnotherapy is suitable. The reason for that is to keep you as the client as safe as possible and let Sarah practice within her therapeutic knowledge and boundaries. Being a Registered Nurse, Sarah is very aware of health conditions and always strives for ideal outcomes and safety. If you do require a letter from your doctor Sarah will advise you of the as part of your Free Consultation with her, before your first session.

No. It ultimately is up to you. The Transformed Mind offers Hypnotherapy face to face on the Sunshine Coast at the Meridian Plains Clinic. Alternatively, video or Zoom sessions as well as phone sessions are appropriate to have hypnosis done through. Often, the phone appointments may require slightly more talking and a light to medium state of hypnosis since Sarah will be unable to see you. It is important to consider if you are opting for the phone or video Hypnotherapy option to find a relaxing space where you can fully concentrate on yourself without distraction.

A safe number is always 3 to begin with. Just like an onion, most problems have many layers to address until getting to the root cause of it. Before your first ‘Transformation Session’ a ‘Free Consultation’ with Sarah Herrmann will give you more understanding and a recommendation of how many sessions you require to overcome your issue. At times, if it is a behavioural problem such as anxiety it can be addressed in 1 session. Keeping in mind that everyone is different and some anxiety issues may be so deeply rooted that 1 session is not quite enough. If you decide to opt for the 3 session package it is good to know that this is a safe option as you can use it within a 12 months period for any problem.
